The Strand Arcade was established in 1891, it is an important heritage landmark within Sydney and is the only Victorian shopping arcade remaining in its original form today. This is a multi-level City Centre located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
The Strand Arcade features Camilla and Marc, Haigh’s Chocolates, Scanlan Theodore, Dion Lee, Mecca Cosmetica, and the Chef’s Hat awarded The Restaurant Pendolino, as well as JB Hi-Fi and more than 60 specialty stores.
The Strand Arcade, Sydney’s home of craftsmanship and a distinctive offer of premium Australian designers. Steeped in a rich heritage dating from the late nineteenth century, it’s a magnet for expert makers and artisans.
The Strand Arcade is a heritage-listed Victorian-style shop arcade located at 195-197 Pitt Street in the heart of Sydney’s central business district, between Pitt Street Mall and George Street in the City of Sydney local authority area of New South Wales, Australia.
It was built between 1890 and 1892 by Bignell and Clark (1891), it was designed by John B. Spencer and Charles E. Fairfax, with improvements finished by Stephenson & Turner (1976). The property was included in the New South Wales State Heritage Register on December 13, 2011, making it the last remaining arcade of its sort in Sydney.
Today the centre is a unique mix of Australian designer fashion and specialty stores catering for a clientele looking for something that’s a little more unique, crafted with care.
