Uncle Jim brings customers an authentic Malaysia Hawker street food experience with a twist of modern touch.
Chef Jim Yong is a native of George Town, which is located in the Malaysian state of Penang. Jim moved to Kuala Lumpur to pursue his passion for cooking and for food, and to expand his exposure to the culinary industry.
He spent time learning new techniques from “SIFU” (Master) in the culinary arts as well as working with seasoned chefs. Jim also worked with the Nyonya people in Penang and Melaka to learn real Nyonya cooking techniques in order to investigate the essence of Nyonya cuisine.
In Terengganu and Kelantan, he also learned how to prepare regional specialties. He routinely travels to China, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and many other countries in an effort to broaden his horizons and deepen his expertise of each cuisine.
After years of ongoing education, he has become adept at all kinds of traditional dishes, snacks, cakes and dim sum – a true blue all-rounder in the kitchen. Accumulating 30 years of cooking experience, Chef Jim is a well-known master chef locally.
